Mmmm, I have a new perfume. it smells like cloves and crysamthnums. I wander around town (smelly bogans! everywhere! I want an alice cooper tshirt now .... ) and stand drooling in front of the prettiest dress in the world in Karen Walker's window. make a rou for the gravy - that way it'll thicken up nice

(ie brown the meat in a pan, take the meat out of the pan, add a tablespoon of butter and one of flour, mix and cook a little bit, add your stock and whisk any lumps out, bring to a boil then pour over meat and other ingredients, put in oven for hour and a half, yum. Just in case you didn't know what a rou was)

Thankee for hte tip. I had been covering the meat in flour before browning, but this doesn't produce enough stew-type juice. Meat makes things difficult. I already can make a superb lentil stew.

I went to Karen Walker when I was in Wellington last. I was amazed that they are mega expensive even when spending pounds. I was also unimpressed that the shop assistant was clearly out-and-out lying to try and get me to buy stuff, gushing 'that looks great!' when things were obviously the wrong size. Loads of better local designers with affordable prices I reckon.

Cooking advice: use ground spices by the teaspoonful not by the pinch.

hmm, yes, I have never bought anything in that store. The style doesn't really suit me overall anyway - it is generally for tall persons - but this dress is a pretty pretty thing. Le Sigh.
