There came to be a lot of people around. And nice young men said "Hey, those heathen women are hot," and married them. Their kids were the ancient heroes, but nobody was nice anymore. So God said, "This isn't what I intended; you're mucking up the place! It's about time for a serious scrubbing

There's really not much that needs to be said before the flood, since there's nobody left afterward apart from Noah's immediate family, and you'd mostly be able to say "These were the many ways in which the people were drawing God's wrath".
