Do you know if there's an (upper) age limit for being in the registry to be useful?

I'm afraid I don't. My friend sent me this link today (the one in med school), so I haven't explored the site that much.
I'm guessing a FAQ on the site or an email to them would answer that though...

They say they take people who are under 55. Or maybe it was 55 & under, but over 18.... well anyway, 55. And they keep you on the registry until you're 61.

You know, being a bone marrow donor would be so much more enticing if it didn't involve BIG LONG-ASSED NEEDLES (should you ever be needed to donate). *sigh*

Oh well, thanks for the link. I'll sign up despite my fear of BLAN simply because I'm mixed and well, yah it's hard to find the right mix when you need the marrow. Those who give today have a better chance of getting tomorrow.

I definitely feel you on that. I'm trying not to think about that part right now.

I figure maybe they'll need me in someplace exotic like... New York! Or Maine! or ... Detriot. hrm. Well anyway, somewhere where I'd get to travel and see someplace new.

But in reality, heck, it'd be a day or two off work. Which, in itself, is always a good thing.

I joined last year. Only 5% of the donors are of Asian/White descent and I was compelled to help a friend out as well.

I registered a few years back. The odds are low for matches, but it's so worthwhile.
