Last night I had a dream that I was having an asthma attack. I was tearing around the house trying to find my inhale with absolutely no luck. There were a couple people milling around just kind of getting in the way and staring at me, concerned and useless. It dragged on in painful detail, much like having an asthma attack ( Read more... )

seriously.
It happened again last night!
I'm actually finding myself anxious about going to bed cuz I'm afraid for my breathing.
:(

A friend is lending us his steam cleaner on Sunday with hypoallergenic cleaning solution.

Definitely go the "hire someone" route. Your carpets will never be as clean as a professional can do it because they have super sucky machines (as in, they suck up the water out of the carpet better and they dry way faster) and they have better chemicals or whatever. Just do it on a nice warm day when you can leave your windows open for air cirulation while stuff dries.

Also, there's steam cleaning (Stanley Steemer, Coit) and there's chemical cleaning (ChemDry) I don't know the difference offhand, but I'm sure you could ask.

Look for coupons in your mail- those Val-Pak envelopes full of coupons or maybe even in the paper. Check out websites for coupons as well.

If you have pets, ChemDry is a great way to get rid of pet stains and smells. I think they also do up to 500 sq. ft. for $99 or some sort of deal, and they don't use too much moisture so carpets dry fast.

Hope this helps!

I think we're going to go with doing it ourselves this time cuz a friend offered to lend us his machine and his hypoallergnic cleaning solution.

When the windows up there get replaced (which will hopefully happen in the next month) then maybe we'll hire someone for the next round.

We had a whole house done when we moved out, for 150, and it got stains out that had been there before we moved in...really awesome.

i've had asthma dreams like that. sometimes it's more like i'm drowning in water or being strangled or sometimes even as violent as having my throat cut. i watch to see if i get "short of breath" dreams two days in a row and then i will use my inhaler proactively before going to bed to ensure i get a good night's sleep.

make sure your bed sheets are clean and maybe consider buying new pillows as well.

The sheets are clean. The pillow is relatively new AND hypoallergenic.

The next step is to get the windows replaced (they don't open and they have mold/water damage), get the carpets steam cleaned, and put the bed up high, as right now it's on a super low futon frame.
