When you think 'flying' you think vehicle, controls, meeting the sky in an explosion of soundless speed; air whipping past you filled with the scent of adrenaline, the tang of freedom and lawlessness pressed to your skin ( ... )

That truly was the secret to flight in the end. The vehicle was just a vehicle. The controls were just the controls. Flight could never really be achieved unless it was shared. It was the first lesson he learned - and one that took a long, long time and a War that never truly ended to truly drive the idea home. He may have lost them all - but he'd had them to lose. The pain was always sharp, but he could still feel that pain. The pain was there to be had because of what he had to lose still, even as he turned away from it.

There was another lesson there, he was sure of it.

He missed them, his Ponds. She did too, he could feel it. And one day, all too soon, he would miss her - the last Pond left and the Song that should never have to end (though she already had). They had shown him what centuries with his Girl had not: yes, flight was better with a friend. It could only truly be achieved with someone standing beside you. But it was finally, fully achieved when it was with those you love. With family ( ... )

I love Eleven and the TARDIS so much. And this: Flight could never really be achieved unless it was shared. And I like how at the end he picks himself up and they keep moving on. Him and his first love. Her and her beautiful idiot.

As do I!! Ohh, I just wish I had written this a little better. Muse was shaky and 'flighty' *laughs* but I got down what I could. Not one of my best, but not one of my worst - hopefully it at least conveys the idea, which is better than what I had hoped for!

Ohh, thank you! That line just seemed to sum it all up (even as Eleven wanted to keep on rambling *headdesk*). And that's how it always is in the end: the Doctor and his Sexy, alone but not - off to see the Universe. And how they love each other so! But in a way that means they take each other for granted...a lot!

Thank you for reading, honey...as you always do!

Very good - this is a rather lovely look at the Doctor and the TARDIS, achieving flight together despite their shared batteredness. (I don't think that's a word, but anyway, whatever I mean, it is.)

Ohh, thank you! I don't know quite what Eleventy was aiming for here, but it seems we have created something good. And that is totally a word. *Grins*

*Writes it up in the dictionary*

Thank you for reading - and leaving a lovely comment!
