"Avery?" Kyle called out in his quiet way, knocking on the 7th year boys' dormitory before entering.

Avery wasn't busy, just merely looking though the day's notes. When he heard the knock, he looked up, though he didn't need to. He knew Kyle's voice as well as his own.

"Hey, I'm here," he called back, shoving his things aside.

Kyle sighed, walking into the room. He smiled meekly at his friend, but he knew Avery would recognize his usual masked facial expression. Pausing to survey the room, he was glad to see neither Andy, Jade, or any of the other 7th year boys were around. How rare.

"How were classes?" he asked, making small talk. Kyle had already started most of his work for the week, but he knew he could finish it during his would-be sleeping hours later on.

Avery did notice the expression on his face and frowned for a moment. His brows furrowed with a questioning glance at his friend.

"Classes were alright," he replied, going along with the facade. "How were your's?"

Fine, except that I spent the entire class longing for the Slytherin girl who broke my heart.

"Herbology was a bit of a pain. Couldn't get a hang of it..." He glanced out the window.
