OH!!

This is fabulous. This takes the original drabbles and moves them so much further, particularly with regards to the rest of Team Torchwood. Your insights into their characterizations are spot on, harsh but not unkind. I particularly liked the Countrycide drabble. Post-Fragments this interpretation works really, really well. To take his duty as physician to the team to the level of "Now, his duty is to make sure that she scars" is brilliant.

I also adore nailing Jack and Gwen as the "Paper King and Queen of Torchwood".

This really is brilliant. Thank you. The series of drabbles is one of my favorite pieces of writing and you more than honored the intent of the original. Owen isn't nice and he isn't pleasant but he is interestingly flawed and complex. You really captured that.

I'm really glad you liked it. ^_^ Obviously I stuck very closely to the structure of your story, lifting specific images here and there that stuck with me from reading. It's interesting, because a lot of the scenes were from episodes that I'd only watched once, maybe twice-- like Out of Time and End of Days. Re-watching them with your interpretation in mind was a fun way of doing analysis, like being in a conversation. :P

I don't write Owen very often, but in choosing which fic to remix I read a lot of your Owen pieces. He's such a good character, really-- an open book in a lot of ways, but not one most people are comfortable reading.

Exactly! I was rereading this earlier in the week and the differences and subtleties in interpretation are really interesting and fun to examine. Owen is a great character, I adore him even when I really don't like him much. At the time I wrote this (pre-season 2) I couldn't possibly defend him, but I was fascinated by trying to figure out the "why" of it all. There are so many ways the water could flow when it comes to Owen, each and every one valid and thought-provoking. I really like the path you chose.

Thank you again!

Really good Owen characterization here. I like each of the parts, but I think #5 is my favorite because it got into his head especially well.

I'm glad you like the characterization. I haven't written Owen too much, but I always seem to really enjoy it when I do. I paid extra attention to that scene in End of Days so really, much of the success of #5 is due to Burn Gorman's performance.

I really like the way this gradually diverges from the original in characterization, like water getting redirected, until we get a final destination that looks identical from the outside but is nearly opposite of the original. Reading this and the original side-by-side is really satisfying.

I'm glad it works well as a remix! That sort of problem-solving, I guess, or interplay between a pre-existing work and my own is why I love writing fic so much. Thank you for your comment, especially the bit about "water getting redirected." That was nice. :)

This is gorgeous. I love your metaphors, particularly the innocence organ in Countrycide. And the rationalizations in Ghost Machine and Countrycide are just gutting. Wonderful.

Thank you for commenting. :) The innocence organ was really fun to write and think about.

Oh Owen.

He's so difficult to get right, but here he is pretty much all in order, and it's so good to read it. Thanks for remixing these.

Oh, thanks so much! I don't write Owen very often, but he's not fun or comfortable, exactly, but engaging. I'm glad it was in character for you.
