I rather like the characterizations of the companions. I haven't seen as much of the old series but it seemed like the companions existed in a void, we didn't get to explore much of who they were. Starting with Rose we got a family, a life, an exploration of the consequences of traveling with the Doctor. And it just gets better with Amy and Rory. We have a woman whose life was affected by the Doctor ("custard and fish fingers") and has his same frantic energy, and Rory who could be considered both a Companion to the Doctor and to Amy. Where she leads, he'll follow. And unlike Mickey, Rory isn't likely to get jealous of Amy's fascination with the Doctor because he knows that she picked him.

I am curious about one thing. With the "revelation" we get in this episode, does that mean Rory's going to start growing a ponytail?
