(OOC) Character Bio of Doom #3
Since I figured Katan would give me the most trouble, I decided to do him now...
Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Uhm...he's pretty tall in all the pictures he appears in. At least six feet tall, I'd say. Fairly athletic-looking, I guess considering he's supposed to be a high-ranking angel and all. He looks like a military bloke, mostly.
2. How old is he?
Errrr... Not sure, really. He seems to come around after a big mess between Rosiel and Rosiel's sister Alexiel, but he's probably easily several centuries old. (Uhm. An angel. Enough said. He doesn't seem to age after a certain point.)
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
He tries to carry himself with a military demeanor, but he's got some hesitant body language too. Some wrist clutching and jaw tension... is posture's supposed to look really sharp, but he gives away he's not exactly outspoken with his body language.
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Uhm...seems fairly fit fromt he point I've taken him from. He's at a fairly early canon-point in the series, just before or at the area of...book four, I'd say, out of the twenty books in his canon series. Later on, he's basically a puppet of Rosiel, and his body starts falling to pieces etc. as Rosiel gets crazier and crazier...but so far, Katan's in perfect health.
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Quietly, not quite stealthily, but quietly. He moves pretty well for such a tall guy... He seems to have a knack for showing up and stopping people when they don't expect to be stopped. I wouldn't call it fluid, or graceful, per se, but eh.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
Katan's pretty average and nondescipt except for the fact he's a really tall, young-looking guy with one cross-earring in the middle of Japan.
When Katan looks at himself in the mirror, it's with gratitude, though.
Erm...see...he didn't start out with a body.
Originally he was just a floating lowest-level spirit-angel.
So he wouldn't care how wretched he looked. He's got a body, and a form, and a voice, and a gender...and he owes it all to Rosiel. He'd be pleased with it no matter what it looked like.
7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Uhm...pale. Stereotypical angel. Very anglo-looking all things considered.
8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
Uhm...ash blond hair (I'm not honestly sure, because he's often depicted with silver hair, outright, but ash blond has a little more color to it...) It's straight and fine, and cut close like you'd expect with the military uniform and bearing, except it's falling over his...left eye? (Later in the series it grows and he has to comb it back, but so far it's like THIS.)
9. What color are his eyes?
A kind of too-light golden-brown. Not outright yellow like Rosiel, granted. His is more muted and subtle, but it's definitely got some goldishness going on there. (He looks overall more "human" than Rosiel, even if he looks unusual for a man in Tokyo...)
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
Just the earring, I'd think. All the angels in the series seem to have an earring on the left side only, all dangly-like. His is a cross.
11. What are his chief tension centers?
Hands. He shows a lot with his hands since he holds himself pretty well otherwise. His hands have most of his hesitant or worried body language, though he can show a lot more on his face than he means to. (I'm still not sure I'm answering this question right...)
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
Utilitarian uniform in dark blue...? It looks like a military uniform with a few bondage buckles thrown in, but...a lot of nineties fashion in Angel Sanctuary, considering. *sigh* Uhm...

Katan doesn't look quite comfortable in anything, I think. *snort*

More or less. he has like...one shot where he's in normal clothes and eh's wearing a kind of nineties vest thing, but eh...I don't think being an angel's exactly a job with hours. XD (He also shows up dressed as a priest the first time he shows up)
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
I don't know what the chosen angelic underpants are. *snort* About the only one who shows off is Belial, and he/she/it likes to go for snappy garter belts and sexuality, which...probably isn't in the common dress code.
I have no idea, therefore. XD Might be a loincloth for all I know.

1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse? Low. Quiet. Don't know really how else to put it. *shrug* "Solemn" is probably the word I'm looking for.
2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
Slowly, and quietly, unless you manage to do something that disturbs him, then he might raise his volume a little.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
Not that I know of... *shrug* He speaks a little formally maybe. (Not THAT formally, though.) Maybe some hesitations mid-sentance as he thinks through what he's doing or saying.
4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Uhm...possibly anything he likes. Angel, after all. It's not really addressed in the manga or anime whether there are language barriers, though the official angelic language is given as enochian... *smile*

Not that I know of. he just kind of...hesitates.

he definitely pauses to think. XD

Uhm...neither one or the other, I'd say. even under pressure, he doesn't seem to have trouble getting out what he means in the end. (though he talks a little slowly.) He's just sort of a background guy unless something's going wrong is all.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
Hmm...he's a little sheltered in his ideals, considering he has absolutley pure intentions and morals when all around him angels are committing ghastly sins because they can get away with it for being angels. He seems to know a bit due to his high rank in Heaven. (Cherubuim are ranked just beneath the seraphim, the highest level of angels in the hierarchy.) I wouldn't say he's street-smart, though because of that naivete when it comes to socio-political matters...
2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
He thinks on his feet a little better than you'd expect. He acts quickly to save Rosiel when things happen, or steps in to save a subordinate Rosiel doesn't even care for...
So even though he seems like he'd need time to deliberate, he's faster, and a little better at what he does to save people than you'd expect?
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Idealistic, I'd say, considering the Heaven of Angel Sanctuary is seriously corrupt and he serves Rosiel. (Who's a sexual harrassment case with circuitry, basically.) He acts to save others in danger when they're other angels, but...he does vanish mid-fight for soemthign else, and consequentially gets a few human characters hurt, and never knows. He's logical/idealistic I'd say out of those there, but... his loyalty's really only to other angels? Even though he doesn't want to HURT humans, he still sacrifices a bunch of them...
4. What kind of education has the character had?
Uhm...whatever education they have in heaven. He mentions studying like a madman for whatever reason, but I have no clue what the curriculum in heaven is. XD
5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
Mmm...he's really REALLY good with planar travel it seems, and is unusually knowledgeable in forbidden magic for an angel. And he's good with using either in combination with computers since he makes a soul-stealing program using that...
I don't know what he'd like to learn more about. I'm not sure he values information so much as being able to be close at hand to repay Rosiel for giving him a body...
6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Introvert.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Even-tempered, quiet, and very...careful in how he deals with people. It's not quite laid-back. That's different. He's just...patient and quiet. he reacts quickly enough in real danger, though.
8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
Maybe timid, but...maybe he just doesn't see any need to talk to people. *shrug* He's not social. Just loyal.
9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
Act.
10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Mmm...Flight, I'd say. Sometimes literally. He has a knack for whisking people out of danger and ending fights that way. He'll fight if he needs to, though--though it has to be for another person's sake, otherwise he just zips away and avoids conflict.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
No humor at all. XD Even less than Gau. Absolute zero. (He's a nice guy, though. I just don't think he has the knack. Rosiel loves teasing him.)
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
No. XD (unless you count insane loyalty.)
13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
Er...being given a body by Rosiel? Rosiel's sealing away by his sister, Alexiel, and Katan's resurrection of Rosiel at the cost of human lives, with the intention to bring him back to Heaven to rule and stop corruption. (Yes. Rosiel. I KNOW.)
14. What does he fear?
Nothing for his own sake. He's pretty...disconnected in a way. He values having a body, but doesn't seem to connect with bodily functions in any big way. (Sex desires, gluttony, that kind of thing...)
His fears are that things might happen to those under him, or above him. He's very loyal.
15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
To see Rosiel restore Heaven to its ideal morality and righteousness? He doesn't have many selfish wishes, either, it's safe to say. He'd be happy just bringing Rosiel back, and serving him contentedly.
It's...probably his old Grigor nature kicking in, really. The Grigori are the lowest level angels, who basically exist to arrange the elements properly for use and assimilation by higher level angels. Their intelligence is limited so they aren't meant to understand that their fellows are dying doing these tasks. Katan came about as a rare Grigor who could think, Rosiel noticed, and gave him a body just out of amusement and whim.
But...I guess his personality's pretty much about to be expected, coming from that. Though he likes the opportunity to help more efficiently in his body, I guess that's his only hope: to serve.
16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
That he's on earth and resurrect Rosiel? Descent is forbidden, and he used all sorts of nasty things to bring back Rosiel.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
Well...Angels are "created" aritificially mostly, in Angel Sanctuary, but Katan calls himself Rosiel's "child" once, despite this, and Rosiel mockingly tells him to "follow his father's orders" once. (Even though he behaves pretty strangely around Katan to say the least. Flirts with him and messes with his mind like mad, or at least tries to--Katan doesn't really have any desire to mess with.)
Katan would do anything for Rosiel, even mess up other people. He'd regret it, but he'd do it. (His loyalty isn't blindly following orders actually, though, because he disobeys Rosiel often, but to do something "better" for Rosiel instead.)
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
Erm. No siblings. Not really.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
No? Katan's just close to Rosiel. That's all he really cares for.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
Uhm...he tries to watch out for another of Rosiel's subordinates called Kyrie, though he's not family-close to her by any means. And he makes friends with a little angel girl he's meant to eat later on in the series (long story) but...while Katan watches out for people, he doesn't exactly get close to them. It's always very stiff, formal stuff.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Katan...doesn't have a best friend? XD
He just has Rosiel, and Rosiel treats him like shit, to be honest. XDD
6. Does he have other close friends?
Uhm. No? He doesn't really make friends. He watches out for people, but doesn't seem to see the need to make friends.
7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
It's not that he has trouble getting along with people. He's nice enoguh. He just seems effortlessly hard to really develop any close relationship to. XD
8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Rosiel?

None of the above? Angels don't marry, anyway...

Erm...no...though Rosiel and Katan are often depicted as a shounan-ai couple because Rosiel seriously messes with him. Kisses him and tries to take over his brain? That kind of thing. They have a really weird relationship... o_o
Katan's all platonics, and Rosiel's after his sister...
So I have no idea, really.

He...doesn't have crushes? XD He'd do anything for Rosiel, but that's different.

He doesn't. Angels aren't supposed to breed, and Katan exemplifies what you're SUPPOSED to do as an angel.

No. He seems to like children well enough, or...have no real difficulty relating to them as "people"... he even sets himself up to run off with the angel-eating girl Tiarhel, but she gets killed. (Again, long story. It's after Rosiel succeeds in turning him into a flesh-puppet, basically. Really bizzare.)
14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
Well he doesn't like demons or devils... *snicker*
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?

He's completely asexual. (which is what makes it so bizzare between him and Rosiel--Rosiel's supposed to OOZE sexuality and everyone desires him, but Katan's incorruptible, basically.)
He wouldn't dream of having sex with anyone. That would be "wrong" for an angel. XD

It's not important at all. He really doesn't understand half of how Rosiel manipulates people, I think. He doesn't even really realize a lot of what Rosiel's "loyalty" is until later... (ie: all the other servants and underlings are mindless puppets taken over by Rosiel's evil!kiss?)

XD Completely asexual, like I said.

Uhm. No. Because I don't know when he's born. *snort* I don't think anyone does.

Both maybe? It's hard to be an angel like him. God doesn't actually exist/is actually evil in Angel Sanctuary so...it's hard to explain. Katan really believes in doing good and right and all that, though. He's really a pretty ironic, interesting character to put in such a series full of nastiness. XD
3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
He compromises his strict angelic sanctity of life, etc. whenever any of his comrades or Lord Rosiel are in danger, then he fights, kills, uses black magic, does anything he has to. When he's good, he's really good. When he's cornered...? Well...that's another story.
You DO have to corner him and then put Rosiel in danger, etc. to get him to break his codes though.
(well. Except for the no-sex thing, maybe. I can't see him ever breaking that, evne for Rosiel. He just doesn't get it, it seems. SOmeone would REALLY have to work at him. NO desire.)

Depends. he doesn't usually speak up. Unless you're a demon or an "evil" as he puts it, he probably won't speak up, either. And even then, he just zips away and avoids you, mostly...
If you cornered him and you did something evil, he'd probably do something about it, though...

I...can't think of any. Except that he thinks Rosiel's somehow a noble, pure, and upright ruler, when Rosiel's selfish, vain, incestuous, and insane. o_o

Does he even HAVE finances....? XD

He's a hermit. o_o

No social stuff whatsoever. His life's serving God/Rosiel.

Tokyo. Someplace. Possibly a house? Currently, he's keeping Rosiel there. (And possibly the aforementioned Kyrie character-girl-angel-person, but Katan wouldn't mention her even if she were there. XD)

He...doesn't? XD
5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
Cherubuim Think Tank. He seems pretty good at it, all things considered, but his "job" is different from what he actually does. What he DOES is serve Rosiel at all costs.
I can't see him being content doing anything else, there.

Gosh...uhm...he's good with computers? Katan's free time is basically spent checking up on everything to streamline Rosiel's return to Heaven, keep him from the reincarnation of his sister (Setsuna Mudou) and keep Rosiel from getting himself killed. It's...kind of a full-time job since Katan can't exactly STOP Rosiel from doing what he pleases, and Rosiel likes to cause trouble...
7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
He's a vegetarian. XD (I decided this, yes.) He doesn't like harming living things for sustenance, but he only really eats to keep his body going. He doesn't seem to take much interest in the sort of food in particular, or take any pleasure in the particular act of eating. He's glad he can, but it's more a novelty, and an opportunity for him to appreciate Rosiel's gesture a little more.

He acts to save others in danger when they're other angels, but...he does vanish mid-fight for soemthign else, and consequentially gets a few human characters hurt, and never knows. He's logical/idealistic I'd say out of those there, but... his loyalty's really only to other angels? Even though he doesn't want to HURT humans, he still sacrifices a bunch of them...

Uhm...whatever education they have in heaven. He mentions studying like a madman for whatever reason, but I have no clue what the curriculum in heaven is. XD

Mmm...he's really REALLY good with planar travel it seems, and is unusually knowledgeable in forbidden magic for an angel. And he's good with using either in combination with computers since he makes a soul-stealing program using that...
I don't know what he'd like to learn more about. I'm not sure he values information so much as being able to be close at hand to repay Rosiel for giving him a body...

Even-tempered, quiet, and very...careful in how he deals with people. It's not quite laid-back. That's different. He's just...patient and quiet. he reacts quickly enough in real danger, though.

Maybe timid, but...maybe he just doesn't see any need to talk to people. *shrug* He's not social. Just loyal.

Mmm...Flight, I'd say. Sometimes literally. He has a knack for whisking people out of danger and ending fights that way. He'll fight if he needs to, though--though it has to be for another person's sake, otherwise he just zips away and avoids conflict.

No humor at all. XD Even less than Gau. Absolute zero. (He's a nice guy, though. I just don't think he has the knack. Rosiel loves teasing him.)

Er...being given a body by Rosiel? Rosiel's sealing away by his sister, Alexiel, and Katan's resurrection of Rosiel at the cost of human lives, with the intention to bring him back to Heaven to rule and stop corruption. (Yes. Rosiel. I KNOW.)

Nothing for his own sake. He's pretty...disconnected in a way. He values having a body, but doesn't seem to connect with bodily functions in any big way. (Sex desires, gluttony, that kind of thing...)
His fears are that things might happen to those under him, or above him. He's very loyal.
15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
To see Rosiel restore Heaven to its ideal morality and righteousness? He doesn't have many selfish wishes, either, it's safe to say. He'd be happy just bringing Rosiel back, and serving him contentedly.
It's...probably his old Grigor nature kicking in, really. The Grigori are the lowest level angels, who basically exist to arrange the elements properly for use and assimilation by higher level angels. Their intelligence is limited so they aren't meant to understand that their fellows are dying doing these tasks. Katan came about as a rare Grigor who could think, Rosiel noticed, and gave him a body just out of amusement and whim.
But...I guess his personality's pretty much about to be expected, coming from that. Though he likes the opportunity to help more efficiently in his body, I guess that's his only hope: to serve.
16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
That he's on earth and resurrect Rosiel? Descent is forbidden, and he used all sorts of nasty things to bring back Rosiel.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
Well...Angels are "created" aritificially mostly, in Angel Sanctuary, but Katan calls himself Rosiel's "child" once, despite this, and Rosiel mockingly tells him to "follow his father's orders" once. (Even though he behaves pretty strangely around Katan to say the least. Flirts with him and messes with his mind like mad, or at least tries to--Katan doesn't really have any desire to mess with.)
Katan would do anything for Rosiel, even mess up other people. He'd regret it, but he'd do it. (His loyalty isn't blindly following orders actually, though, because he disobeys Rosiel often, but to do something "better" for Rosiel instead.)
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
Erm. No siblings. Not really.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
No? Katan's just close to Rosiel. That's all he really cares for.

Uhm...he tries to watch out for another of Rosiel's subordinates called Kyrie, though he's not family-close to her by any means. And he makes friends with a little angel girl he's meant to eat later on in the series (long story) but...while Katan watches out for people, he doesn't exactly get close to them. It's always very stiff, formal stuff.

Katan...doesn't have a best friend? XD
He just has Rosiel, and Rosiel treats him like shit, to be honest. XDD

It's not that he has trouble getting along with people. He's nice enoguh. He just seems effortlessly hard to really develop any close relationship to. XD

No. He seems to like children well enough, or...have no real difficulty relating to them as "people"... he even sets himself up to run off with the angel-eating girl Tiarhel, but she gets killed. (Again, long story. It's after Rosiel succeeds in turning him into a flesh-puppet, basically. Really bizzare.)

Well he doesn't like demons or devils... *snicker*

He's completely asexual. (which is what makes it so bizzare between him and Rosiel--Rosiel's supposed to OOZE sexuality and everyone desires him, but Katan's incorruptible, basically.)

It's not important at all. He really doesn't understand half of how Rosiel manipulates people, I think. He doesn't even really realize a lot of what Rosiel's "loyalty" is until later... (ie: all the other servants and underlings are mindless puppets taken over by Rosiel's evil!kiss?)

Katan really believes in doing good and right and all that, though. He's really a pretty ironic, interesting character to put in such a series full of nastiness. XD

He compromises his strict angelic sanctity of life, etc. whenever any of his comrades or Lord Rosiel are in danger, then he fights, kills, uses black magic, does anything he has to. When he's good, he's really good. When he's cornered...? Well...that's another story.
You DO have to corner him and then put Rosiel in danger, etc. to get him to break his codes though.
(well. Except for the no-sex thing, maybe. I can't see him ever breaking that, evne for Rosiel. He just doesn't get it, it seems. SOmeone would REALLY have to work at him. NO desire.)

Depends. he doesn't usually speak up. Unless you're a demon or an "evil" as he puts it, he probably won't speak up, either. And even then, he just zips away and avoids you, mostly...

I...can't think of any. Except that he thinks Rosiel's somehow a noble, pure, and upright ruler, when Rosiel's selfish, vain, incestuous, and insane. o_o

Cherubuim Think Tank. He seems pretty good at it, all things considered, but his "job" is different from what he actually does. What he DOES is serve Rosiel at all costs.

Gosh...uhm...he's good with computers? Katan's free time is basically spent checking up on everything to streamline Rosiel's return to Heaven, keep him from the reincarnation of his sister (Setsuna Mudou) and keep Rosiel from getting himself killed. It's...kind of a full-time job since Katan can't exactly STOP Rosiel from doing what he pleases, and Rosiel likes to cause trouble...
7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
He's a vegetarian. XD (I decided this, yes.) He doesn't like harming living things for sustenance, but he only really eats to keep his body going. He doesn't seem to take much interest in the sort of food in particular, or take any pleasure in the particular act of eating. He's glad he can, but it's more a novelty, and an opportunity for him to appreciate Rosiel's gesture a little more.
