Ok, how do I love this story, let me count the ways. I am SO IN LOVE WITH THIS. Your storytelling voice is totally incredible. It's so exactly how Bradley would think about stuff, and I love how his actions and the way that he sees the world don't match up at all with what he says out loud. You've managed to deal with the issue of Bradley's insecurity about his sexuality in such a realistic way, and this is just loaded with these little poignant touches that made me go all aw over them. I particularly loved this bit, because it's just so sad and true:

Or when he’d had that epiphany when he was nineteen - that no one ever wrote songs about gay people. That heroes in movies were never gay

I like stories where you love the characters even though they're far from perfect, and this is totally one of those. Also, the wall part is hot and awesome and such a lovely ending.

Yaaaay! My first ever comment :D

Thank you. And it's so sad how that IS true. We've got such a long way to go still.

I'm glad I hit the 'hot' for you too :P

What a hurting story, I love it when boys hurt a little, but happy ending is a must and you delivered perfectly. It was a beautiful, beautiful story. Bravo.

Awesome. Loved it to pieces. Nice progression, lovely bit of angst and wall!! Very hot.

Not a bad introduction to the fandom, not a bad introduction at all. (This is a massive understatement, by the way)

This was a vividly drawn, emotional story. Your Bradley was beautifully drawn and I had great sympathy for him even as he was being a jerk to Colin. His repressed sexuality made him pull back from their friendship and it felt like a slap in the face. It was really just his twisted sense of self preservation. Thank goodness Katie and Angel forced the issue.

I loved the entire piece, but a couple lines really stood out:

This is a wonderful description of Bradley's awkwardness: And Bradley does that thing where he overcompensates to try and show he’s all hip and modern and down with this, mirroring Mark’s/Matthew’s/Munter’s over the top gestures and pitch jumps. Kind of like when he worked in a shop as a teenager, and he mimicked customers’ accents back at them without meaning too. It got him into trouble then, and for a bit it seems like it might do the same now. I love getting that bit of back story, too.

I love how this paragraph exposes Bradley's repressed sexuality while still keeping him firmly in denial: Thing is, ( ... )
