SUMMARY: Quantum Leap crossover fusion #2.
So many leaps, so many lives, it all began to blur together.
If in his darkest moments John doubted they would ever be able to turn back the oncoming apocalypse, he would have still continued for the small but precious lives they saved or changed for the better.
Blinking away his usual post-leap confusion, John beheld a familiar sight: the concerned face of Harold leaning over him. Then he became aware of something different: the feel of the other man’s hand firmly gripping his own.
But holograms don’t have physical presence.
Looking around, John recognized the isolation room from way back when they first embarked on this crazy scheme to save the world.
“Harold?” he asked in confusion.
“You’re home John” the other man stated with a gentle smile. “It’s not a perfect world, but it is much improved. I think it can safely muddle along on its own without our intervention for a while.”
Any questions John had were interrupted when the door was opened by a tall blond man John had seen only in pictures, who ushered in a woman John had seen recently only in his dreams.
Jessica smiled tentatively at John at first, until she must have recognized something in his face because in no time she was across the room hugging John tightly and whispering “Welcome back.”
John savored the feel of her warm and alive in his arms and closed his eyes against the tears as he clutched her close. For once he would have to say Harold was wrong -- this world they had wrought seemed pretty perfect to him.
