Otakon '08 contained the most active and interesting Friday I've ever had at an Otakon yet. I kept thinking it was Saturday.
There were several attempts to watch new things (Sakura Wars, Origin) but the first few episodes and half hour of Origin were not quite enough to keep my hopped-up-on-coffee attention satisfied. So I patrolled down to the Dealer's Room instead, where I browsed through the booths upon booths of anime material! I tried on a kimono and thought that I was turning Japanese. (It looked really great, pics to follow!)
Results: extra large turtle and beautiful art book.
Imagine if five no-longer-very-young pop stars (who were also incredible musicians) banded together to do incredible themesongs for TV shows that were sold only on DVD to cult fans in other countries. Imagine if they performed songs that only varying handfuls of the crowd knew and loved.
So, while it was a great show, their material left random handfuls of the crowd going ??? and I know I was sitting in a row with people who didn't know anything by them at all.
On the other hand: OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG I HAVE HEARD "LITTLE WING" AND "RINBU REVOLUTION" LIVE!!!!. (oh yeah, and the Soultaker theme.)
The day closed with a hilarious panel called "Your Favorite Video Game Sucks." There were too many perverts in line, so we decided that the internet and a hotel room > a Hentai Panel.
Then there was sleeping. and it was good. Until next time!
