[The following dream contains major DDS2 spoilers.]
In..... dra....
He couldn't help but feel like he was running away again. He told himself he was already too late to have done anything. This was a turn of events they hadn't foreseen at all.
It wasn't as if he could even run, anyway, and the trail of blood he was leaving as he limped along wouldn't allow for much hiding, either. The best he could do for now was keep this monster away from his last remaining comrades.
Adil and the others were dead. He'd failed them too.
In... draaa..........
The demon Indra stirred within him as though it recognized the beast that called to him now. It seemed to have gotten a taste for him anyway.
He flipped on his CB. "Did you stop the transmission?"
The answer, "No... We can't," should have caused a cold chill to take him over, but he was beyond that now. He'd expected the response, in a way. Nothing was ever that simple.
"Don't give up." His voice was pained as he reached a spot where he could lean against a wall without being in plain sight of the monster that followed him. "There has to be a way."
"Where are you, Roland?" This was Gale now. Was that urgency in his voice now?
Then Argilla... "We're coming!"
He could hear the demon approaching, his footsteps shaking the entire level. They couldn't come here. Even all together they didn't stand a chance against a creature of this strength.
"Don't bother." And closer still... it might have reached this hall already. "This thing's a monster. I don't think there's a lot we can do."
In... dra....
He'd started to peer around the corner, but he pulled away now, heart racing. He had to do something, and quickly. Otherwise it would end like this and the demon would just go after the others once he was gone.
Then...
A pair of doors. He recognized them from before - the core of the reactor.
Suddenly, he felt... settled. "I have one trick up my sleeve."

Someone else was there.
He was on the floor and he didn't remember how he'd gotten there. Had he succeeded in doing what he'd come for? It was difficult to think...
No. That alone was proof that he wasn't finished yet - the fact that he still breathed.
There was a struggled taking place nearby. It was that monster and...
Argilla. He hadn't meant for her to follow him.
She had to know what this meant for her. If she'd come this far knowing that, facing this creature she had no chance of beating, then it wasn't his place to stop her. Perhaps she would be able to finish what he started.
Her whip-like arm reached out... stretching... stretching... She'd pull the lever and then...
He knew even before it happened that she wasn't going to make it. When Meganada snapped her extended arm before it could grasp the handle, he was already pulling himself up onto the console. He could manage enough strength for this. It was the least he could do.
She saw him then, surprised that he still moved, and he smiled at her. Had she been in demon form this whole time? He hadn't even noticed. When she nodded at him, all he saw was her beautiful eyes, her warm expression...
Then the demon ended her.
He had his part to play too now. Her sacrifice wouldn't allow for anything less. As the lever came down and the world blackened around him, he could only hope that if there had been any reason for his existence after he abandoned Greg that this was it. Something worth his stolen time.
He thought... maybe he heard a bell...

There's not much to be said after a dream like this. Roland stares up at the ceiling for a few moments, finally closing his eyes again with a deep sigh.
