These are a few of my body's least favorite things

I went to see an allergist recently since my doctor thought I might be reacting to something. So I went, and he did tests and told me that I'm highly allergic to dust mites. I'd thought that for years, but also figured that I probably wasn't really allergic and had just built the whole thing up in my mind so that I could avoid cleaning things. This ( Read more... )

1) Nasacrom nasal spray is amazing. It's really gross to put a thing in your nose four times a day, and it's a hassle, but wow does it work. I am smelling smells I have not smelled since I was a child. You can get it over the counter ( ... )

I will mention Nasacrom and Querciten to my allergist, although I'll probably try the Querciten at some point anyway unless he thinks it's a really horrible idea for me. I do get cramps sometimes, but I usually don't suffer from medication side effects for some reason so I'm willing to experiment.

I'm taking an allergy medication (Zyrtec) but I might try to switch to something else. I was prescribed it by my regular doctor before we knew what I was allergic to, and I'd like to see if there's something better suited to my problems.

I am taking a nasal spray right now (Flonase.) But the one website I found on Nasacrom seemed to think they could be used together. So again, I will bring it up with my allergist.

Out of curiosity, what are you allergic to?

I'm not sure I'm spelling querciten right. There's a good chance your allergist has never heard of it (as a rule, conventional MD's usually don't know much about alternative treatments, no matter how scientifically proven they are.) You should ask him anyway though.

So far as I know there's no reason you couldn't take it with any other medication.

I don't know what I'm allergic to, probably pollen. I've never had the chance to go through the battery of tests. My immune system is already stressed because I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and then last summer I went through a period of emotional stress while we were having the worst pollen season in ten years. So I got terrible allergic symptoms; before that I hadn't noticed any major problem.

5) To complain REALLY loudly when I see a cockroach somewhere. ("It's not just the fear of diseases, don't you realise that I'm ALLERGIC?")

Hhhmmmmm... Maybe I should use that one. I dont think im allergic...But I hate the little buggers anyway.....I really hate them....

Hope you had a good X-mas and gotten everything you wanted...

Sorry, that blows!
I remember hearing about the dust-mite free house.
Can you just take allegra or claritan once a day or something?
Or is it just best to avoid it all together.

Other things to look up to - never having to walk a dog again?

Also, as per Malcom in the Middle, try and guilt stuff out of your mom.
After all its her faulty genetics that left you allergic to trees.
Maybe you can get some free stuff, like a vegetable dumpling or something.
=P

I hope the Doctors don't decide its necessary to do too much.
Hopefully, it can just stop at a once a day pill?

PS - when your on an allergy pill its really cool, cause other people may have trouble breathing, when its hot out or when doing strenuous excercise (like dancing for 4 hours straight), but you'll be able to breathe fine. Oh yeah, does the "smoke"/mist a Clubs bother your breathing too?

I take Zyrtec, but I'm still supposed to try to avoid my allergens. People who are lactose intolerant can take pills so that they don't react too badly to dairy, but that doesn't mean they're supposed to gorge on cheese and ice cream every day ( ... )

The shots I got were also actually just needle pricks. The first set (when I found out I had the dust mite allergy) was a bunch of light needle pricks, the second set (when I found out about all the others) was with deeper needles. It was about 20-25 shots the first time, and then he re-tested everything except the dust mites the second time ( ... )

You might well be referring to something else, but I've heard tell that Van Halen would demand a bowl of brown M&Ms.

The real reason they had to do it was knowing if a request like that were followed (it being not entirely normal and usually placed in the middle of a list of items), the rest of the things they need to put on the show were also done. Brown M&Ms == Ready to Rock.

Turns out you're half right. Van Halen demanded that there be NO brown M&Ms backstage.
