Hes Gone

Aug 15, 2007 22:08

Neil just phoned.

Neil's Father was with his family when he passed about 1 hr ago.

I feel helpless. About 20 yrs ago his grandmonther passed away. I sent flowers to the house and they were tossed in the trash. His mom feels that flowers are for the living. So I will not make that mistake again.

Jim.. Rest in Peace.

In the jewish religion, you dont send flowers as they are considered dead, and you dont send dead things to the home of the deceased.. Here are some suggestions for you..

1) make a donation to a charity that was special to his father or to his family

2) send a meal.. they are greiving and cooking and such can be a chore

3) make a donation to the funeral.. did you know when someone dies and flowers are deliverd to the grave, there is a 100 fee or more to have them removed and thrown away?

Thank you for your thoughts.. Knowing him.. and your thoughts I had to laugh....
He is Far from Jewish.. His mom is German and feels personally that flowers are for living things..
I am too far for a meal.. and they are the type that greve alone
Funeral... His father is a strick atheist. and he probably already has been creamated.. I bet no funeral at all.. But I will just lay low.
