Catholics would vote yes on 73. A.K.A. Mexicans, A.K.A. a huge number of the CA population. Add to that all the regular conservatives, and you get a closer vote than ought to be reasonable. But 47.2% is still a pretty clear defeat - it can't be considered a close call until you get down into 1% territory. It would have been nice to get 79 and 80, but they were worth the sacrifice for an all no vote, telling schwarz to shut the fuck up and do his job.
