Going to China this summer :D

I'll be going to China this summer for six weeks. To visit family and maybe help with a study abroad program...and hopefully also acquire some manga!! :D

Oh, how fun! I've only been to China once, when I was twelve, and it was only for a month or so as part of an English language exchange-ish type program at a university. Anyway I was the epic fail Chinese American who not only couldn't speak a word of Chinese (except "aiya," I guess) but couldn't understand Chinglish. I'm sure it's much more fun when you're not helpless XD

I definitely don't know any Beijing shops though o.0

Lol most of my ABC friends are like you. I think I would have lost my Chinese skills if it weren't for my mother being a Chinese teacher and forcing me to go to Chinese school all through middle school and elementary school. (Though now I'm pretty out of practice...)

Yeah it seems Beijing might not have any BL shops :( But even so I'm also excited to see if they have any new artbooks by various mangakas. I like to collect those and they are really hard to find in the US.

I'm second gen, so I was just about doomed XD My dad was forced to go to Chinese school as a kid in Chinatown, and even he's forgotten most of his Chinese by now. But apparently our family speaks hick Cantonese anyway.

And the language art books are in doesn't matter, either, so that's a plus. If nothing else, the atmosphere of places like that big manga/anime mall must be just awesome, right? I don't think we have stuff like that stateside.
