Quick Updates
More in-depth post soon. For now, just some quick hits:
- Thought I shook this bug by resting most of last weekend. I thought wrong, as it came back with a vengeance, just in time to screw up this weekend, too, and feel even worse. Wheee . . . *slurps chicken noodle soup, sips white tea, and lounges on the heated massage pad on his computer chair*
- FC totally rocked, though not quite as much so as last year. Still good, though. Details to follow, and maybe pictures. Shout-outs to Karl and Noriko for being awesome crewmates in running the FMP and Dealer Den this year, Rabbit, Casi, Doe, RNC and others for dropping by to say hey when I was stuck working and making me feel like part of things, Brenda for making time for a kick-back-n-relax dinner Sunday night when she was totally exhausted and not minding that all the good places were closed or inaccessible, Foxy and Chrashska for hanging with us as well and trading amusing anecdotes as we watch the funny farm go by, and anyone who was on the dance floor Saturday night who didn't laugh at the sight of old-geezer-with-bad-back trying to dance, all my dealers at the FMP for totally rocking and making it a fun, easy run, and everyone who was there who just smiled at a stranger, on the off-chance you smiled at me.
- After lugging around my boat anchor of a laptop -- if you've seen this heavy beast, you know what I'm talking about -- to have my FMP database available at FC, I took advantage of a special deal on Dell refurbished netbooks: $177 for a Mini 9 with 512MB RAM and a 4GB solid-state drive. Paid another $20 to pick up a 2GB memory stick, and had an 8GB SDHC card I could drop in there for additional storage, since the 4GB SSD is barely enough to install XP and Office. The only thing is won't do that the big beast will is run SecondLife, and kill my shoulder. I even got City of Heroes and an HD TV tuner -- finally, a replacement for my old LCD handheld TV that will stop working in a few months -- working on this. A capable little machine, for not much money, if you're in the market.
- Job situation is looking better. No more rumblings of lay-offs, and now talk of me being eligible for a promotion, when I haven't even been officially working there directly for a year yet. I must be doing something right.
- How in the world did I miss this awesome web-comic?! It's called Catena Manor and is just so much fun. Check it out, maybe toss them a few bucks, and tell them I sent you, so they'll go, "Why-who?" and you can nod and smile like that makes all the sense in the world. ;) By the way, Kacey and Noriko, see if you can figure out which characters remind me of you.
- Speaking of Kacey and Noriko, was really hoping to see you this weekend. Maybe if I'm feeling better in time this weekend. Miss ya'll.
- Tomorrow's Valentine's Day/Singles Awareness Day. I hope everyone has a good one, which ever you celebrate. And just some silliness I stole from Casidhe. Not sure I wanna know, but, it's all just in fun :) :

- Brenda, keep on rockin'! I'll have to get back to practicing Guitar Hero III again, this keeps up. :)
- Anyone else watching Battlestar Galactica, and think the end scene last week between Felix Gaeta and Apollo Sr., errrrr, Tom Zarek was a little bit over-the-top? Will be interesting to see the fallout of things tonight, though.
