Hmmm . . .

I just experienced a moment of Zen that I must share.

I was just finishing some work in the office of one our jail sergeants, and noticed a sign on her wall. On this sign was the following Katherine Hepburn quote: If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun. As I turn to my left, I look out a window, and see inmates in orange jump-suits ( Read more... )

But Jail is ALWAYS So Much Fun! whyaylooh March 7 2009, 01:31:28 UTC
Awww, but it's so much fun in there! That's why lots of the same people keep coming back time after time! :P

It was just such an odd moment, though, seeing that there. I could almost see one of those demotivator posters being made from it. Not to mention it being just odd to see in a place where it's supposed to be all about rehabilitating these people to return to society. (And before anyone out there reads this and launches into a tirade about the U.S. criminal corrections systems, be aware that my tongue is firmly in cheek on that last statement.)

Aw, I'm sorry if I worried you there. Yeah, I've been just extremely low energy of late. A lot of it is from work, pushing myself there probably more than I should have there . . . I mean, I should be grateful that I have a decent-paying job right now, but, crimonies, at some point I became the contingency plan for if anyone isn't there. Someone's on vacation? I cover it. Someone's out sick? I cover it. Someone is behind in their workload for what ever reason? I cover their regular duties until they are caught back up. Someone's out on maternity leave? I cover for them. Someone is retiring? I pick up their workload. Oh, and, at some point in there, I have to do my own workload, though that is usually treated as if that is just busy-work while I wait to pick up everyone else's work at best, and stuff that just gets in the way of the REAL work I should be doing -- the stuff everyone else wants me to do -- at worst. At least until something gets missed, in which case it's a huge emergency ( ... )
