Ichigo's Zanpakuto is always in it's shikai release.  I was pondering (as I was revising Pharmacology) is this due to the fact that all that's left of the unreleased form is the hilt/grip from Urahara Kisuke's "training"?  Or some other reason?

Also wiki's amazing, but I disagree with the comparison of Kenpachi and Ichigo's
