I'll be watching you.

Great opener, firstly. Series 2 was not as good as 1, so I'm happy about what 3 seems to be promising. I felt s2 strayed from the myth arc too much, and I was confused about what, if anything, Summers brought to the story. What his plot definitely told us though is that it isn't just Sam and Alex who have woken up in the past - he has too. That kind of gave me a revelation last year - I suddenly realised that all the coppers we see, Chris, Ray and especially Gene, they could all be injured policemen, drawn back into this world, which may or may not be the *real* past. I'm strongly considering it to be the real 80's. I know the LoM finale basically pointed to the 'it was all a dream' answer but AtA 1x08 had Gene truly being present in Alex's life when she was a child after her parents' death, which suggests again time travel.

I love that we're now on the 5th series of this universe and storyline and it is still a total mystery.

But okay, I'm overwhelmed with theories right now. I think that Sam and Alex's feelings that their worlds were so real means something - that it is reality, some kind of two-places-at-once time travel. I think Gene is integral to it. He may possibly have been the first copper to get hurt and wake up in another time and since then his presence has drawn comatose coppers to him.

The BBC news report Alex saw in present day about the body of a policeman... and then Alex keeps seeing what I assume is this man... I was convinced without question all through that this was Gene. That Gene was killed as a very young policeman, and in the seconds before his death, kind of similar to Alex, he went back in time / or to this world, and has lived a life time. The time travel thing could be the answer then, because he's dead in modern day, but because seconds in our time are years, even decades, in the past, then it makes sense that he can still be alive in the 80's. This is so convoluted. Which means it probably is NOT the answer, but it's fun wondering.

I think Keats knows everything though, like he's a regulator of this world, he watches over the balance. He knows where Alex is from, all about her, but also all about Gene, both maybe that Gene went through what Sam and Alex has, but also that his actions after this, while in the past, have been questionable and have polluted this world, like he's taken over, and has ruined this world for all the other coppers who are drawn back to it.

And also - did Alex really wake up? I had thought since s2 that it was a coma within a coma and she was imagining the present day. But stuff like sending Molly to her dad, and seeing the news report about the policeman's body were presented like they were real life things. I don't know, maybe Alex simply remembered this news report from before she was shot. But then, she was shot in early 2008, and Sex on Fire was pointedly played in the shop she was in, and that wasn't released until later on in the year... maybe that's just me being particular, and the production didn't really take notice of when the song was released and it wasn't intentional at all.

I can't believe it's 2 weeks until the next episode. Arse.
