HOLY TITS ASHES TO ASHES ONLY JUST GOT TO SEE IT AM ALL A-SQUEE.
- Erm okay, I called Sam faking his death. Gene would never, ever have killed Sam Tyler. That much I knew.
- Until Gene and Alex's date I forgot how much I loved their UST in series 1. I was holding my breath during their slow dance just hoping... but I knew they would be cock blocked. I KNEW IT. Too predictable A2A writers, too predictable.
- I like Keats. Yeah I know he's the 'bad guy' but I still like what he brings to the show. I still think he's an equaliser, keeping the balance in this purgatory, and that he thinks Gene is upsetting the balance by drawing all these people to him... but who knows at this point. He goes fucking mental in the finale as the trailer shows, so maybe he really is a simple vilain.
- Chris has got mega balls. I always loved Chris, I think everyone does, but even in the serious scenes he's gotten over the last 5 years I don't think I ever felt I really saw a serious side to him, a really mature, morose, I-am-my-own-man seriousness and I loved it. Shaz and Ray's Bowie flash's and LOM moments came after they kind of proved themselves to Gene and became solidified as his supporters... but I liked that Chris got his actualisation moment when he made himself equal to the Guv. Shaz and Ray more so put themselves on Gene's side, but Chris put himself on Gene's level.
- That Chris, Ray and Shaz have all now seen the same things not just separately, but together, was breathtaking. Not simply the tension in the corridor scene where Ray and Shaz hear Nelson, but the beauty of the scene where they all saw stars. I think maybe all three will go out together somehow as a unit. Like if it's time to die.. or time to wake up... after it all, they will still be together...
- Alex and the photos. Keats said we need to find the grave... he didn't mean Sam's, he meant Gene's. Gene looked a bit distraught when he was walking away from Alex in field with the scarecrow... I think he's realising it's his grave, his body. That he's dead. I hope at least. I mean all the stuff I've been theorising and positing myself, it's become so entrenched in my head, it's a foregone conclusion. So far nothing has wildly set my ideas off kilter, so I'm hoping things live up to my expectations. As much as I now love the dream world/purgatory premise, I was pissed and disappointed with that reveal in the LOM finale, so I hope now that it really is the end for good that we get a satisfying, non-shark-jumping ending.
- Oh yeah... SAM MOTHERFUCKING TYLER in the trailer. Did you catch it? Knocking on the window to Alex?!!! Still in his 70's clothes, so it must be another apparition. I'm pretty certain it was John Simm's face, and not just some randomer in shadow in Sam's clothes to just pass off as Simm. Wasn't he photographed on set and they passed it off as a visit? I'd hoped Sam would show up for real in the finale, but even Simm showing up for a teensy cameo as an apparition is quite cool. Links everything up so nicely.
I'm so, so sad it's ending, but hyped up like whoa to see what the resolution is. This show and LOM has been my crack since I began watching in 2007. I love it so much. I seriously don't know what could fill the void. A2A is just such a special kind of excitement. It's like all these weird things collide to just make it one of the most compelling shows I've ever watched.
Oh and someone caugh the fact that in one of those scenes in the station with Keats yelling at everyone, it seems that there are stars instead of the usual chequered tiling. If so... holy fuck.. the world literally coming apart in front of all of them like that??!! And I won't get to see this when it airs next Friday so I'll be in suspense!
