I presume youve heard of the temporal lobe seizures causing religious experiences? And the jesus red drug laced piss for his water to wine trick theoreem?
One intersting I got from a student in the behavioral neuro department here. Shes doing reseach into parkinsons and religion. Apparently, parkinsons patients show a marked decrease in any religious/spiritual feelings at all (not necessarily behavior, but their own feelings/experiences) that seem to "cured" by the standard pro-dopamine treatments. The implications are very interesting.
