i love that movie. it's very raw and pretty realistic, yet funny at times. and this is why i love european films: they use actors who look like real people instead of botoxed, anorexic, horsey, fake titted girls who can't act and all look the same.

I completely agree, I love how all the actors have their own unique physical and emotional flaws, rather than just emotional conflicts which are commonly found in hollywood movies (actually, sometimes they are even deprived of just that, movies with flat, uninteresting characters.) Being able to relate to the characters because they are just so real, is pretty interesting.
I know that you're pretty into films from other countries, I've just recently taken a huge interest in foreign films (I've gone through almost half of my parent's asian film collection already) What are some european films titles that you'd recommend me taking a gander at? It doesnt have to be British (though british, irish, scottish etc accents are so fucking cool) hell, maybe even some dutch films?

there's this irish movie that comes to mind... about adam. it's funny and light.

other good ones:

france:
bleu blanc rouge series

italy:
la scorta

spain:
all about my mother
y tu mama tambien

irish/british:

in the name of the father
the full monty

asian:
eat drink man woman

raise the red lantern

and then there's the ones i'm not sure exactly which country they originate from:

and some good american movies:

woody allen's:
deconstructing harry
husbands and wives
mighty aphrodite
manhattan
hannah and her sisters
annie hall

magnolia
eternal sunshine of the spotless mind

there's tons more... i'd have to give it some thought.

I love the ending. And of course the slightly-overrated-but-good-nonetheless soundtrack.

Haha, it's all about the Iggy Pop. I really like Closet Romantic by Damon Albarn and how they used just that song for the whole credits reel. I actually heard Closet Romantic years ago when I mysteriously found it in my music folder. I've been wanting to make a music video/short film with it ever since. Maybe we'll get a chance to fit it in somewhere for something later on in comm tech. When IS this current comm tech film project due anyways?

I liked it a lot, the baby part upset me though.

yeah, the face was like rotten and black or some shit like that. What's even more fucked up I thought, was when they took another hit right after to forget the sorrow.

I've not seen the movie but I am in the process of reading the book, so good so far, but difficult as it's written phonetically.

Oh shit, it's Katie! Or shall I say, Kate? I didn't know you had an lj.

I actually just picked up the book the other day downtown at some bargain book joint. I'm really enjoying it, though I'm taking forever to finish each page, saying sentances out loud and trying to understand all that 'Ye think thit the White Swan wid hud oot oan his muckers' It interesting though, I'm finding that what Kelly told me was right, that is, you get used to it after a few chapters and it just kind of flows after a while.
