Summary: Scotty surprises Kevin
A/N: Well, tomorrow's my birthday (I accept all forms of cash and presents). So I wrote myself an early gift and thought I'd share with the rest of the class. Mostly, it's an excuse for smut.
Scotty looked around the living room and nodded to himself, satisfied. Everything looked perfect. It was Kevin’s birthday. The family would celebrate the next day, but he threw together a party for two tonight, complete with food that held special significance. He had lobster and champagne ready for dinner - this time, they would light candles - and he made red velvet cupcakes for dessert. He had finished wrapping presents earlier in the afternoon. Scotty wondered if maybe he went overboard with the gifts; he had bought tickets to a new musical (he couldn’t sit through Wicked one more time), and a book Kevin had wanted to read (because they needed more books in the loft), and a new watch (up until recently, Kevin was still wearing the Valentine’s Day watch he had received from Chad. Unfortunately, it had "accidentally" been broken. Scotty wasn’t admitting to anything.)
At any rate, everything was prepared nicely for Kevin’s birthday. Scotty sighed and then headed towards the bedroom to change. However, he had only taken a few steps when the phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it’s me."
Scotty turned to look at the clock. Kevin should be home any minute - why was he calling?
"What’s up?"
"Turn on the news."
Scotty very apprehensively found the remote and turned on the television. As soon as he saw the raging wildfire, he sighed.
"You’re still at work?"
"Yep," Kevin said, managing to sound both distracted and annoyed. "I don’t know how long I’ll be, but we’re going to have to monitor this."
Scotty turned to look at the dinner, and his shoulders dropped in disappointment. "OK. Well, keep me posted."
"I will. Gotta go - love you."
For the next few hours, Scotty watched the news. He received a couple more calls from Kevin, who sounded increasingly stressed and tired. Finally, he had an idea.
Scotty packed up the dinner. He looked at the presents for a second, but then quickly grabbed a small box and wrapped something else instead.

Kevin looked up at the sound of a knock on his office door. Scotty smiled at him.
"Hi! What are you doing here?"
Scotty held up the bag. "Brought you dinner."
He walked into the office and closed the door behind him. Then he turned the lock. Kevin raised his eyebrows questioningly.
"You need a break. Uninterrupted."
He stepped over to Kevin’s desk, and Kevin moved papers aside to make room for the food.
"Where is everyone?" Scotty asked as he unpacked the bag.
Kevin groaned, rubbing his eyes. "Robert sent everyone else home."
"Oh," Scotty said. "It’s only you chained to your desk, on your birthday."
Kevin looked up at Scotty. "There’s a forest fire."
"Yeah, and are you the one out there, you know, dousing it?"
"No."
"No."
Kevin managed to relax, smiling and talking quietly with Scotty about their days. They stared into each other’s eyes as they ate, and Kevin thought it was the best birthday he could remember in a long time.
They finished the meal and cleared away the remains. Scotty reached back into the bag, saying "Dessert!"
Pulling out a cupcake, he presented it to Kevin with a flourish.
"Red velvet?" Kevin asked with a grin as he took it from him.
Scotty removed his hand, swiping some of the frosting as he withdrew. He put the tip of his finger in his mouth, smirking as he sucked the frosting off it. Kevin swallowed.
Scotty then reached into the bag again.
"And here’s one of your presents."
Kevin put the cupcake down on the side of his desk and took the small box. He looked up at Scotty, then unwrapped it quickly. When he saw what was inside, he cleared his throat.
"Honey. You shouldn’t have."
"Just what you always wanted?" Scotty asked, laughing as he stood and walked around the desk closer to Kevin. He sat on the edge of Kevin’s desk and smiled down at him.
"You’re not serious?"
Scotty shrugged. "It’s late. No one else is around. The door’s locked." He lowered his fingers to the button of his jeans and smiled when he saw Kevin’s eyes follow his every movement. "I promise to be quiet."
After a moment of indecision, Kevin stood, pushing his chair back as he raised himself up to meet Scotty’s lips. They kissed passionately, and Scotty moaned as Kevin took the lube out of the gift box.
They moved quickly, kissing and licking and sucking. Scotty pulled Kevin’s dress shirt from his pants as Kevin reached down to cup Scotty through his jeans. Scotty broke the kiss with a gasp and a laugh. Kevin then worked swiftly, undoing Scotty’s button and lowering the zipper. He pushed Scotty’s pants off his hips, then stepped slightly back as he forced his husband to turn and bend over the desk.
Kevin ran one hand up Scotty’s back, finally stopping at his shoulder. He held Scotty still as he prepared him. Scotty groaned, resting his forehead on his left arm, trying not to push back. He could feel drops of sweat rolling down his back, and then the flaps of Kevin’s pants and the tail of Kevin’s shirt, pushed just far enough out of the way to free him, rubbing against Scotty’s skin.
Kevin pushed in steadily, and Scotty moved his head, pressing the flesh of his arm against his open mouth so he wouldn’t call out. His other hand moved across the desk, searching for some sort of purchase. He landed on some papers, and he clenched his fist, crumpling them in his hand. He would wonder later if it had been something important, but just then he didn’t care.
Kevin flattened himself against Scotty’s back. He wrapped one arm underneath Scotty, hugging him. With the other, he reached lower, stroking Scotty as he moved deeply inside him.
The office was dark and silent except for their breathing and the sounds of them moving together, and it felt as if they had shifted out of time, stuck in a moment of pleasure and intimacy. But it couldn’t last. Scotty came first, almost collapsing onto the desk. Kevin dropped his head, resting his forehead on the back of Scotty’s neck, as he came a few moments later.

Later - after they had cleaned up, and exchanged a few more kisses, and Scotty promised more presents (both literal and figurative) at home - Kevin sat down at his desk, prepared to work again. He picked up the cupcake, smiling at it as he took a bite. Definitely the best birthday ever.
At another knock on his door, he looked up. This time it was Robert.
"Do you have a copy of that press release?" he asked tiredly.
Kevin looked around his desk and finally spotted it, cringing when he saw the wrinkled, crumpled paper.
The End
