1. I hate being sick. I've currently got a nasty cold, and coupled with being 8 months pregnant, I am not having fun. I'm hacking and wheezing so much that I'm actually concerned about going into early labor... I doubt that could actually happen, but with the way my stomach keeps bouncing around every time I cough or blow my nose, it's becoming an issue.
2. I don't know if I already posted this or not, but we are having a little girl! My husband and I were both extremely shocked when we found out (at the end of October), because we had been concentrating so much on boy names and boy room decor.
The funny part is that we initially REALLY wanted our little girl first, but then started feeling bad because, hey, what if it were a boy? So then we got ourselves all worked up and excited about having a boy. When we found out we were having a girl after all, we were actually a little disappointed at first. It took a few weeks for my husband to get over it, but once I reminded him about all our original girl ideas he started getting excited again.
3. We are 8 months in (7 weeks to go!) and we are both very excited to meet her. We've decided on the name Amethyst Katelynn Bills (which we've kind of known for a while). We will probably call her Amy for short - that way she can use her nickname for jobs when she gets older.
4. I have an issue with one of my first graders. I feel a little bad about it, but I've got to be honest... I can't stand him. Absolutely, positively cannot STAND the kid.
This child is a holy living nightmare. I've had to remove him from my other students because he can't keep his hands to himself and has been hitting/abusing at least 2 - 3 students per week. He's been to the office at least a dozen times in the last 3 months and has also been suspended.
He has no sense of personal space and regardless of how many times I've sat down and talked to him about it, he continues to get right up in everyone's face. He will get one inch from a kid's nose and SCREAM at them at the top of his lungs.
I've had to physically restrain him from punching a kid in the face because he quote "hated the way that kid drew a smiley face."
He's got serious issues and he sees a psychologist, who has recommended neurological testing...
This kid is 7 for god's sake. He's going to be a sociopath one day, I would almost guarantee it.
Normally, I don't go with the "medication" craze, but this is the first kid I have EVER MET where I want to just shake the parents and yell "PUT HIM ON SOME G@DD@(#$)@ MEDS!!!"
Also, he is perpetually 15 minutes late for class (seriously, at least 3 times a week), and disrupts every lesson I teach. It's gotten so bad with this kid that when he's late, I actually close my eyes and PRAY that he's going to be out sick that day...
Yes, it's THAT bad.
In fact, it's so bad that our Vice Principal and Principal don't even know what to do with him any more. They've had at least 3 conferences with this kid's parents and nothing is working.
Meds. Seriously. Either for him, or for me.
I love teaching, I love my class, but this kid is going to kill me. I can't WAIT until the end of the year so I can be done with him forever.
GRRR.
Anyhow, I'll stop ranting now. I just need numerous therapy rants a week in order to keep some semblance of my sanity now days.
Any suggestions? I've tried most everything - it would be impossible to list all the crap we've tried so I'm not even going to attempt it..
