It was amazing, Elphaba's temper.

Fiyero would ever be confunded by it, feel ever the useless. He couldn't argue against her, she always had her words and her mouth and her odd enchating ways on her side. The way she'd twitch her fingers, smile cruelly, laugh and just as soon fly off into a violent rage. The latter usually ended in Fiyero physically pinned against something, not altogether unhappy, and Elphaba frowning down at him - loving, maybe, but forever irrated at her own emotions.

He'd finally figured out why Elphaba could never really be his. She hated herself. Her own emotions, that she felt at all. Sure, she loved him, but she couldn't let herself be with Fiyero. It would make her whole, and an individual she always would be. She could live with herself no other way.

It was disasterous, really.

Not that Elphaba was a mess. She was precise and deadly and wonderfully upfront and together. She knew what was going on inside herself and knew it was hopeless to do anything but cope with it.

But ... Fae was his.

Fae was Elphaba, but Fae wasn't at all. Fae was different person, more than a code name. Fae was just as passionate, but less angry. She had a purpose, a plan, an identity that couldn't be vulnerable - because it wasn't real. It didn't matter whether Fae had green skin. She was a part of something she believed in, and could love Fiyero.

Fiyero could make her real for Elphaba. And it was beautiful.

She was beautiful, his Elphaba-Fabala-Elphie-Fae.
