Level: Easy
Program: Adobe Photoshop 7.0

Selective coloring works well in pictures that have one bright or obvious color (eyes, lips, symbols on clothing, etc.). For this "wow how many steps did that take?!" icon, choose a base in which there is excellent shading on the skin (no single tone pictures).
01. Start with
this picture of Sasuke and crop it at 96x96 px so that you only get a small part of Sasuke's chin and a focus on the Uchiwa fan on his back.
You should see something like this:
02. Duplicate the layer (CTRL A>>CTRL C>>CTRL V), and then sharpen it by going to FILTER>>SHARPEN>>SHARPEN. Set this layer to 65% opacity.
You should see something like this:
03. Create a new layer and fill it with #FFFFFF. Set this layer to HUE at 100% opacity.
You should see something like this:
04. Take the 9 pt eraser tool and erase the part covering the upper half of the Uchiwa fan, so that it's back to its original color.
You should see something like this:
05. Text time: 1) type 'U' in Carpenter ICG, 48 pt, Smooth, in #FFFFFF. Place this in the middle of the icon. 2) type 'chiha' in Carpenter ICG, 24 pt, Smooth, in #FFFFFF. Place this next to the 'U' but higher up.
You should see something like this:
06. Create a new layer and use
this brush by me in #FFFFFF. Place this below the 'chiha'.
You should see something like this:
07. Save your icon as a png. and open a blank 100x100 document. Use
this line border brush by me in #FFFFFF, and you're done!
Your finished product should look like this:
