From what I've read about Libya, the long and the short: with the exception of Italy, Libya doesn't export so much oil that we need to worry about it. The big thing is it being directly in "the West's" backyard. Where Zimbabwe is remote, the plague, famine and cruel politics affect South Africa more than anywhere else

Bahrain's pretty close to Iran, and has a large Shi'a population. If Bahrain didn't have strategic importance, the US wouldn't have made a military base there. And if they have made a military base there, and they consider the Saudis to be their strongest regional allies (for now), I feel that they should at least have the decency to stop them from being violent with their own citizens. --- All is well here, how are things across the pond?
