I've known this coloring for quite a while, but don't use it that often. For some reason I just felt like doing a tut. :)
to
Made in Photoshop CS3.
Uses selective coloring (not translatable).
#01: First off, take a pic and crop it. I discovered that this coloring doesn't work good on screencaps or people with dark hair. Blondes are the best, which is the reason I chose
this pic of Kristen Bell and I cropped it. If you also want text behind your subject at the end, it's best to leave some space for it. :)
#02: The base is quite light already, but not enough. So I duplicated it and set it on Screen 50%. Settings are different for every base. Just make sure it's not too light or too dark. Hower, you can always alter this opacity at the end.
#03: Then go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Hue/Saturation and up the Saturation to around +25. Make sure it's not too much or too less. Just see if you have enough yellow, but not too much with it looking unnatural.
#04: Afterwards you go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Selective Color. These settings don't work for every base, but keep the Yellows under the Red and the Yellows under the Yellow the same.

#05: Now there's a little too much yellow. So we'll balance that with... guess what? Color Balance! Go to it via Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Color Balance and enter these settings. Preserve Luminosity checked.

#06: You could stop here, but for this base... I don't know... I thought it just needed a bit more yellow again, so I went back to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Color Balance and did this little adjustment.

#07: If you were only here for the coloring, you can stop reading. :P But for those still reading, now it's time for some text. I picked the font Cairo, color #516881 (the color of her eyes), size 20, and set on Smooth. I typed it and rotated it. Then I moved it so that it's a bit over her head, but still readable if you'd delete that part.
Then right click on the text layer and choose 'Rasterize Layer', so some parts can be deleted with the Eraser. Then you zoom the pic around 500% in so little mistakes won't be noticeable. With the Eraser you delete the parts of the text which are over her head. When you're done, then set it back to 100% again.
If some people still have questions, feel free to ask! English isn't my first language and I know I probably made some mistakes.
Also, show me some results. It's always fun for me to see those. :)
And, last but not least, please don't ask me for a PSD. Last time I got 5 or 6 people commenting and around 80 people downloading the PSD. Besides, this tut isn't that many steps, and with a PSD you don't learn as much as doing it yourself.
Shit, one last thing; credit isn't needed. As long as you point people to this tut when they ask you how you did a certain thing you learnt from this one. :)
