Thanks for sharing. I appreciate the effort this long post took.

When I was looking for a permanent partner, I came your conclusions about how we only know each other's illusions. I vowed to make an effort to have my illusion be as close as I was able to manage to 'reality'. I did not want any more miserable surprises as my illusion was trumped by what the person really was. I was lucky. My husband has turned out to have only minor deviations from what I thought he was. And some were in a positive direction.
