When my sexuality became an issue in school (the end of eighth grade), the harassment was swift and brutal. All summer my house was vandalized and, whenever I was caught alone, I was physically attacked. On the third day of ninth grade, I was dragged from the locker room by the majority of the football team. They tied me to the back of an electric janitorial cart and dragged me around the football field, kicking me in the ribs, groin, and head until I was unconscious. There were girls standing at the sidelines yelling "drag the fag, drag the fag!" When I regained consciousness, I was naked, my skull was fractured, and there was nobody to be seen. I didn't want my parents to know how brutal the harassment was, so I told them I fell down a hill. When I returned to school, I was summoned during first period to the dean's office. My parents were there. I was expelled permanently with no option of trying another high school. The papers read that "Shloma is exhibiting a freedom that we are neither willing nor able to defend." Oh my god. o.o That's absolutely horrible. >-< It makes me badly want to take up a law profession to fight that sort of bullshit. This is supposed to be a free country, NO ONE should be put through that. (And I understand that it might've been years ago, but that doesn't excuse the behavior. WARS happened back in the day, and they're still unexcuseable to some people.) We're supposed to be advanced and accepting of all people, regardless of gender and religion and yes, even sexuality preferences. D
