My... relationship with YR host is very weird right now. I do have CGI and SQL, but I don't believe I have PHP.
I don't want only LJ people to be able to view my icons. I just don't want people hotlinking them or my images anywhere, LJ or otherwise. I have this thing in my control panel about hotlink protection, but it doesn't seem to do very much.
If you know of any roundabout way I can do hotlink protection, I'd love to hear it. And thanks for the links! I'll check them out when I get some free time.
With an htaccess file (which is what the hotlink protection is) you can control who views your icons... think of it as an 'allow' list. You can allow your own domain of course, LiveJournal and any other site you wish.
Here's an easy generator for you to create your htaccess file.
