My cousin's six-year-old daughter is learning-disabled, allegedly due to a very high fever she had when she was a baby. Her brother, who is ten years old, was apparently diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome about a year ago. The reason I mention this is because, as usual, I am pissed off. Well, at least we're not in Sparta. Those kids would be worm food.
It's hard for me to believe how little we've progressed as far as political correctness (or maybe just awareness in general) for mental health goes. You can't say "nigger" or "dyke", but "retard" is just fine.

Kathleen Powers and this dude I work with named Richard are two prime examples of the "get out of jail due to disability" mindset. They're both deaf, and they're both rude as fuck...but you can't say anything; they're deaf! That doesn't excuse them from being pieces of SHIT, does it? Should it?

No, they are still pieces of shit. Basically what I think is that the kid is a piece of shit because he's never been disciplined because the people raising him are complete idiots who know nothing about (and don't make any effort to educate themselves about) their children's disabilities.

I think Kathleen would have turned out to be an asshole no matter how she was raised.
