I truly believe students need much more advice than "study hard, get good grades" when they go off to navigate college, but I personally do not endorse commenting on a prof's weight during office hours as a method of ingratiating oneself to one's professors, even if it is complimentary. Whoa, no kidding. It was going OK until it veered abruptly into too-personal territory, and while I realize that was probably intended to sound like flattery, "weird and obsequious or even downright creepy" about sums it up.

Not to mention that you just know some jerk is going to interpret that as "It's perfectly fine to tell the professor her tits look better since she lost the belly!" or something. sheesh.
