attention to detail

Blerg. I've been spending the past several Sundays painting my living and dining rooms. I've been trying to do it properly, with taping off edges and cutting in and doing multiple coats and touching up areas. It hasn't been so bad. Not perfect, but a good enough job ( Read more... )

We always have horrible luck w/ painters tape - it either doesn't all come off, or, yup, peels away strips of paint too. Ugh.

Good luck - I know how much of a pain the work AFTER you do the main body of painting is! UGH UGH!!

Just saw the ETA - yes, that's what we did, though we got this plastic thingy that I think was originally supposed to be used for like smoothing on wallpaper.

I've seen paint shields before, but for large scale/many coats it didn't seem to makes sense. That's what they sell the damned tape for! But since I'm going in for small areas, to fix tiny details, I'm going to do it that way.

Yeah, I think my arm would fall off trying to use that for overall painting! But that sort of thing came in handy for touchups that were made necessary by the damn tape!!

Ugh ... sympathy! This is what inevitably happens to me with such projects. Sometimes no matter how careful you are, you're just annoyed that things don't turn out perfect. I'm sure in the end it will look great, though; the red sounds really cool.

Augh. That's really frustrating! And part of the reason I'm not keen to go back and redo the trim in my living/dining area...
