he would have been more recognizable as an informant to the people if he had a sign or a shirt or something. people are generally wary of strange people at an elementary school for no apparent reason. i can almost gaurantee that some parent got mad about it. you're a mother, and i'm a substitute teacher. we've both seen how restrictive a school environment can (and often has to) be.
that aside, you did a good deed, and should be proud. (however, i now allude to the good book's suggestion that you 'let not your left hand know what your right hand is doing.' i know that you're not tooting your own horn; you gave a personal example to inspire, not brag.)
