Yes, they come to Portland quite a lot, and I've seen them three times live. Nothing compares to seeing them on stage, albums just don't capture to that energy you get from going to a show.
I went forty-something hours without sleep for them-- it's a five hour drive back to my hometown, so we all skipped our last afternoon class, drove home, saw the show, drove back, and went to our 8:00 am classes. Ha, and I had a public speaking midterm the next morning. SO WORTH IT, though-- they said how much they liked the people and the venue and how they wanted to come back, so... *crosses fingers*
My missing this is doubly-shameful, since I'm deeply occupied in counting dates, calculating ages, and scouring for associations in volume 5 of The House of Niccolò. at the moment. (OH MY GOD. You have to read it. Passing classes is for losers.)
Oh, hey, he casually remarked, have you been able to organise having my lab stuff sent yet? I'm eyeing the Halloweenies, but I wants my other stuff first. It might sate my lust temporarily, and hence save me some money. Probably not, but there's always the possibility.
Ha! I point and laugh at you. (NO! Tempt me not with this! I don't have any time to read! (Although, for the record, JR Moeringher's The Tender Bar is very good and I highly recommend it.) And all my midterm grades were A's and I'd dearly like to keep them that way! Particularly since I'm going to be taking two languages next semester and should probably get to work on the Greek now. Not to mention actually learn some Spanish rather than how to bullshit my way through it. Money depends on those letter grades, I'll have you know.)
I left 'em with Mum and thought she could send them in my name, but it turns out she can't (damn Y12 and their increased postal security measures), so next time I go home (which will be around Thanksgiving), I'm going to pick 'em up and mail them from here, if that's all right. I think I have the right address, but do you mind emailing it to me again just so I can make totally sure?
Oh, that's unusual. :P (But I want to tempt you with it. I don't want you to fail all your classes, I guess, but no one around here reads Dunnett, and I need someone to rant at. Can you see my dilemma? Will check out The Tender Bar though, I feel obligated to, since I just found it on Amazon for fifty-five pence. And well done with the reversal of book temptation there. And on your mid-term results, colour me utterly unsurprised. (Incidentally, Greek? I feel an overwhelming urge to prostrate myself in fannish adulation

Have you seen the video for "Backstabber"? It's really nifty.
And have I asked you if you've seen the Venture Bros. yet?

That's a pretty sure sign of inveterate dorkiness, but at least you're in good company. How're things?
