I know! I watched it last night and was disappointed :(. EBay, GMC, Panasonic, iPod, ... Have you seen The Island? It was another film by Micheal Bay with more (!) product placement. He says that the films would not get made without putting advertisements in. Liar!
It is possible that he right. A good producer must get money in any price. But why some of them made the high quality films without brands? :) (for example Tarantino)
I understand what you mean, and I hope you don't mind me correcting you: "It is possible that he is right. A good producer must get money at any price. Then how come some of them can make high quality films without brands? :) (for example Tarantino)"
And the answer is simple. Micheal Bay either can't handle production costs, or maybe he just wants extra money. Wikipedia says: "In movie's DVD Commentary track, Michael Bay claims he added the advertisements for realism purposes."
Back to the Future/Назад в будущее (not sure if you will know this movie - our teacher in Russia did not know it, and it from before the dissolution of the USSR) had a lot of product placement - but I never noticed at the time!
Thank you for you correction :) Yes of course, I watched this film (it is a classic of world cinema, I think). I don't remember any product placement there, it was a long time ago. I remember it was good film. The advertisements can take place, I think, if they don’t mar up a picture.
