I would hardly say that's "every little thing". Yes, cops are paid to stop crimes and investigate these things of this nature, however I would mention that despite police involvement, this issue does not sound like it got resolved. You said he got in his car and left, by chance was she in the same car? That would mean she's still with him, and as behavior comes in patterns, not instances, he's still hurting her

The police may have the authority to take out the guy, but you have every right in the world to yell at him for being a stupid jerkwad. Freedom of speech, right?
