re: Accepting Diversity - I think some people confuse 'the right to their own opinion' with the right not to be told that their opinion is hateful, bigoted, repugnant or just plain wrong.
"I do hop it won't mean the end of your posts utterly; while I admit I skim most of the day to day stuff (I mostly use my own as a personal memory aid rather than expecting anyone to read it seriously...) I really enjoy your opinion pieces. Which is not to say I agree with all of them, but then that's what it's about really."
Thanks :o)
I'm likely to continue writing about stuff, the question is how much of what ends up here will really just be reposts of stuff I've written on facebook notes.
It's a shame really because I prefer threaded discussions like on livejournal to the comment system on facebook. However, when I compare the amount of replies I get on facebook to here then there's a clear winner :o/
"But by and large, I'm an environmentalist, believing in the robustness of the dynamic system we live in."
I've only just started to read your posts & you are cutting back already!
I don't manage to write a diary, but I have managed bits from time to time & I can be fascinated when I look back on them in an "I'd completely forgotten that!" kind of way. I left a diary/notebook/scrapbook on a plane a few years ago. I'd wanted to keep it to give to my son who was a part of some of the events. I still feel the loss :( So security of the journal can be important. I wonder which blogging sites offer a back-up function?
There was a time when I was posting nearly daily but that was about six years ago now :oP I think livejournal as a whole has dwindled quite a bit now, which is a shame. I'll probably not be posting as much but I'll be hanging around for the communities and whatnot :o)
I used to keep a personal diary when I was a teenager for similar reasons as you describe. There is something quite interesting about reading back your thoughts from long ago. It probably worked better with the personal thoughts mind as it gave me a chance to write about things that I just wouldn't on a public journal.
And hope so re: Saturday! Just got make sure I drag myself out of bed in time to get an early enough train :oP

The vile post you mention sounds very trollish.
Maybe see you on Saturday?
