Books

Hmmm. So I have this 'box of Pandora' thing going on. Skipping between some cartoon artists' blogs has recently brought a certain book to my attention. A book that up until now I hadn't heard about. Apparently there is a HUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGEEEEE fandom attached to it, and all those followers will tell you that it's the greatest thing ever ( Read more... )

Ugh, Twilight. Now, I have nothing against vampire books. I mean, I read them before they were cool. It's just that I HATE how EVERYBODY in the Twilight fandom is like "ZOMG, best books evarz!!!!"

Um. I think books like To Kill a Mockingbird kick Twilight's ass.

But I decided that I can't properly judge until I read them, so I'm borrowing them from a friend, as the waiting list at the library is now hella long because of the movie.

And ironically, I'm reading Howl's Moving Castle right now, too!!! I'm only about three pages in, though :P

Yeah, it's just that every person in the fandom is, as you so eloquently put "ZOMG, best books evarz!!!!"
... but when you ask them why, they just can't seem to answer :p

I'll hold off actually buying it until I've collected the remainder of my Diana Wynne Jones books.

I LOVE Howl's Moving Castle, so I hope you do too. If you like it, I can recommend The Chrestomanci series, especially the first book!

Hmmm...Twilight...I have a love/hate relationship with that series. I have read it and re-read it (I admit), but it's like brain candy...sweet, but not really that good for you.

People who say they are the "best books ever" are severely misguided...and I wonder what other crap they are reading? Just keep in mind that most of the fandom following Twilight are teenage girls so you have to take what they say with a grain of salt. You are right, the books are not that well written, and sadly the first book is better then its sequels. Bella's obsession with her Vampire guy is more then a tad...disturbing. Not to mention Edward (the vampire) is so "perfect" it's freaking annoying.

Heh, I like your photos, especially the one of your cat. :P

So why do I keep reading them? I really don't know...like I said, brain candy.

Howl's Moving Castle was better! :D

I can stand 'brain candy', as a matter a fact I have a thing for 'British boarding school-chick-flick books', provided that they are reasonably well-written and have a few nice, well-developed characters. It's just, the few things I read had so many typos in it, it made me wonder how she managed to get published. I want to give it a chance though, I don't want to judge prematurely.

Thanks, I was surprised the one of my cat came out so well :) I so do need more practice :p

As I've said, I LOVE Howl's Moving Castle :)

Yay carrots!

And I like to play video-games as well ever so often, as well. Not as much as I used to, though :)
