You couldn't push me off a cliff. I would NOT budge. Everything else about your day sounds incredibly enviable though. I also envy all of those people in the pool. I am turning green here.
I've done it before from a sheer cliff that was much higher and I wasn't even the slightest bit afraid (I did it twice!) but for some reason I was terrified this time. My friend Jeff had to jump with me. But yeh, the rest of the day was really nice and fun.
I meant to tell you, yr LA bike ride sounded really neat! Was it meant to mostly educate the public about the homeless?
The pool thing is awesome! I haven't been yet, but Wilson Park in downtown Fayetteville has community movie nights during summers, and sometimes they do it at the public pool so you can swim/float/watch rad movies.
I think a fun group ride with a bit of social consciousness thrown in is the main point of this ride, though all of the Ride-Arc rides have a narrative/informative aspect. The guy tried to remain neutral covering both the homeless issue and the inevitable gentrification of the city. It kind of made me reevaluate some of my thoughts, most particularly my recent annoyance that there are programs for "poor people" to buy homes and nothing for a hardworking middle class girl like me. But after the ride, I found out the programs for the poor are twisted and slight and those people REALLY do need the help...
Other rides this group has done are architecture tours of the city (since it's kind of in conjunction with an architecture school), a halloween ride through LA cemetaries, trips to the suburbs, etc.

Here we just kind of have an informal meeting of bicycle kids who meet up at a bar and then ride their bikes through downtown.
One year, they called themselves the "Fayetteville Stink Patrol."
