rainbow cake

I just had to quickly post and show off this rainbow cake that I made tonight!

It has grey buttercream icing and inside it is rainbow like a paddle pop. Sorry for the awful pictures, I have lost my camera and have to make do with andrew's awful digital camera and my phone.

How how how do you make such a cake of wonder?

I just used a packet mix cake, seperated the mixture into five bowls, then added food colouring (red/pink, green, blue, yellow and purple). I put maple syrup in the yellow mixture, and cocoa in the purple (which made the purple colouring completely unnecessary but I didn't think that far ahead). Then sort of put it all into the cake tin in different orders, gave it a swirl and baked!

The icing was just a buttercream frosting recipe I googled with some black colouring in.
