*Sigh* Guilty pleasures. Checking LJ is the last thing I should be doing. But work is so hellish, I'm very close to screaming and shaking my fists randomly at people. It's either LJ & caffeine! time or alienate your colleagues for good! time.

I love, love, absolutely LOVE footballslash, love it so much that trying to describe its awesomeness would only cheapen ( Read more... )

Oh my goodness, that sucks ass about Stewardess! She founded that fandom! Now what will we do?

God, now I'm feeling angsty too. I should go write more fic, that might make me happy. *clings to you in despair* You're right, this world is being very crappy right now. I just lost one of my fave icons ever ;__;

It's sad, sad. And I'm stupid enough to not have saved a single one of her fics, EVER. But I'm able to be more rational about the thing now; she makes waterproof points, the idea that she might try to get original fiction published is exciting, and it was therapeutic to read all the other comments on her post; but, still a bit weepy here... *clings too* Sucks about your icon - I read in your journal it was the Pavel one, AGH! It was so cute!

I should go write more fic, that might make me happy.
Incidentally, you writing more fic would also make ME quite happy :)

Same, I was just about to friend her so that i could read her fics again, but then I found out that she was getting them published. I mean, published is even better, but wouldn't she have to change the characters's names? Coz Todd Blackburn is still alive and well and living in Florida.

Thanks for the icon commiserations, matey :)

(I'll have to get writing then, won't I?)

The character names (& probably a lot of BHD related stuff) would have to be changed, I'm pretty sure. But they'd still be Hoot & Todd to me, heh!

*giddy at the prospect of more fic* You're delightfully productive! I almost feel guilty about asking for more, with you slaving away at sexy cowboys and sexy outlaws and sexy can can dancers and sexy public school boys day in, day out - poor, poor you. ;)

Hi! Coming from the Wonderful Place of Gut-Splitting Laughs and Pretty Footballers Walking Hand In Hand (or doing some other interesting things).
I'm definitely checking out the "Master and Commander" series now that you've said so much good about them. Besides, the "Aubrey/Maturin books" denomination makes me laugh so much. Do you know how many books are they?

Oh, and breathing will do you good. We'd be much less stressed if we were allowed to breath properly.

Phew, breathing was very invigorating. I might yet make a habit of it.

There are - wow - 20 Aubrey/Maturin books in all, AND a 21st that was left unfinished, that's going to be published soon in the state that PO'B left it in, apparently.
Like I said I've only read the first one but love it. The "Aubrey/Maturin Series" name is fatally funny! XD So true, too! I lost count of all the times Jack was angsting about Stephen's well-being when they were apart, for example. And they talk to each other about anything. Etc, etc. Aww. The big ol' slash fangirl following of these books proves that I'm not just seeing things ;)

I'm sure there are a lot of PO'B sites out there, but here's one I came across (that proudly presents the headline "Aubrey/Maturin Series" on it's front page, heeee!):

In the FAQ section they have the books listed in reading order, and other useful info.

Wow, thank you so much for the complete information. Would you kill me if I told you I haven't seen the movie yet? The books seem much more interesting, though. The relationship you describe between Jack and Stephen sounds very appealing to me. Slashyness aside, I've always had a thing for those kind of relationships between men. No wonder then that I loved Lord of the Rings (specially the Sam and Frodo parts) so much before I even knew what slash was. :)

Tonight I might rent "M&C" on DVD. Or "BHD". Your fault entirely.

No, if you won't kill me for never finishing the LoTR trilogy. XD
M&C the movie and the books seem a bit different in style. But if someone likes the other they're bound to like the other, I think. And I don't mean to seem like my thoughts only center on slashslashslash (though that's not so far from the truth....) because I like other things about the books too, but I can't help it that the story is all but driven by the friendship and devotion these two men have for each other. It is without a doubt the main intrigue with these books. End of rabid gushing, hope you'll like them!

Oooh, and you can't go wrong with those choices! but M&C is slightly better ;)

hey, just wanted to offer my support for everything especially the Stewardess part ... i have a feeling we're going to see a lot more of that kind of posts in the next day or two ...
(btw i found you through her Friends page, i was wandering there lost and aimless .. lol)
yes, so we just have to be patient. a day will come when we'll be reunited with the stories. until then, curling in a ball under the bed indeed looks very good.

Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it! I'm slowly coming together again after the whole shock, but am guilty of refreshing the comments of that post of hers again and again - it's soothing, reading other people's thoughts. Support group, like.
Stewardess' Hoot and Todd are the real deal. Things'll be ok because hey, those boys will stay with us no matter what. :) *sends warm fuzzy thoughts to all Hootsquee-ers* *and boundless admiration to Stewie*

Support group, like.

i thought about that, too. we need a Fight-club-like support group for Hoot/Todders in withdrawal ...

god, i wish i had saved it!! arghhh ...
