Gakked and Gakked and Gakked Again

This is a problem with LJ: there is an illusion of intimacy, but in actuality we may know nothing about each other. This meme might help. If you like, ask me something (more than question if that is what comes to mind) you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away ( Read more... )

Interesting Question - Long Answer wild_place_king November 12 2004, 06:23:18 UTC
Just prior to making that decision I was a professional Jockey, riding racehorses in races at Aqueduct, Belmont, Saratoga, Hialeah Racetracks. For many reasons I wanted to leave the track (that is a whole other story) and attend college. My friends were completing their degrees and I was a high school dropout.

Since I was living in New York City and wanted to find lucrative employment, I felt that I needed a business education. So for a while I did not declare my major until I had taken a range of classes. I wanted to see what I liked.

I preferred computers but they were the old mainframes back then, not the PCs we know and love today. I liked accounting and that promised to provide the business education that I wanted. Turns out that accounting is *BORING*. Sorry M. It was too confining. However, I would not have been able to secure the position I have now without the accounting and finance background that I have since acquired.

Does that answer your question?

It does, thank you. Hialeah, eh? I've been there. Hey, I grew up in Miami, and Dad's boss raised thoroughbreds.

I agree about accounting. That's the one part of my CPCU studies that I'm NOT looking forward to. Two more exams after this month though. Two more. Just two. I'm just glad I'm not studying for the actuarial exams.

Who is your favorite musical group? (no idea why I don't know the answer to this already)

I don't actually have a favorite musical group anymore, not like when I was younger. Ilisten to a lot of classical music and they are called orchastras, not groups.

Frequently, I listen to oldies like Neil Diamond, Roy Orbison, Jay and the Americans, The King (Elvis) - that genre.

Great question, thanks.

If you could design a job for yourself that was the perfect one what would it be and what would it look like?

I actually like what I am doing right now. I wish I found this end of the business twenty - thirty years ago. I also want the opportunity to be a real minister for my friends and those in the pagan community. That combination would be ideal.

Great question!

do you have your own kind of ancestor worship within your practice or do you not feel comfortable with that or do you meld with B's practices?

Since my ancestors came from all over the planet, I do not have individual practices that acknowledge them individually. I do, however, meditate with them and affirm to live in a manner that will not disgrace them.

Interesting question, thank you.

What do you regret about the choices you've made in your life?

Ouch! This is a painful one.

I regret hurting people I love. I have tried to be aware of my wants and desires enough to make good choices. All choices are great, meaning important and far-reaching.

It is hard, but, I am learning from my spouse that brutal honesty is usually the best way to go, but, having a heart is important too.

Thank you for making me think of that.
