I have been silenced on my own social media for posting something about this days ago, and I'm sure if i were to go and put it down now i could, but alas I am frustrated with certain people telling me what to do. But this post isn't going to be about them. This post is about this amazing human being that lost their life on Thursday.
It's about going about your day on Thursday and literally feel the energy shift, and then wonder why things aren't okay. Waking up on Friday and not knowing what's wrong, but keep plugging along until you find out that you lost a mentor. A friend. A teacher. On Thursday, our friend Tara Gluski passed away in a fatal car accident out by Van Riper State Park, in Champion, MI. I can't imagine being at the crime scene. I can't imagine the people she was with, or the people that she was meeting for that event. I can't imagine what her husband is going through. I know that as a whole, we're all devastated for her loss.
I want to thank her for everything that she's taught me about backpacking, hiking, about clean water, about outdoor cooking, about making quinzees. I will miss her energy. Her ability to make you laugh with these crazy one liners. I will miss her expert skill of tye dye. She made me love tye dye. And i was slightly obessessed for awhile with it. She did so much for our community, for women appreciating the great outdoors, for being the best booster for all things. She was just an amazing human being, and she's gone. Her legacy for those that knew her, I hope that we all take a moment to help someone else in loving the great outdoors as much as she did.
I'm going to miss Decembers and her photo montage Advent calendars. i'm going to miss her hikes, and camping trips. She would come home and just blow up Instagram with all the cool things they came across. Funny antics by friends. I will miss her beer reviews <3 and amazing food selections she posted about.
I'm going to miss her. Tara you were one of the best things since sliced bread, and I pray that you look over all of us and continue to support all of our shenanigans in the great outdoors <3 We all love you, and we all miss you already, and thank you for making me a better, more rounded person, for believing in me, and supporting me.
