10 Years in the Fandom!

Jul 18, 2013 02:43

This week is kind of special to me, because it marks my 10th year in this crazy thing called the Furry Fandom. Usually when I get interested... I mean REALLY interested in something... after a few years I somehow hit a plateau or something about it disappoints me, and then my interest slowly dies off.  I look back at all the CD's, comics, books, ( Read more... )

I think you were one of the first furs to have many fursuits.

Can't believe that was 10 years ago.

Anthrocon 2003 was my first furry con. I remember seeing and interacting with fursuiters...but I was really shocked when I saw the AC 2003 fursuit photo among the charity auction items this year. I can't believe how vastly different fursuits used to look!

I wish I could have went to AC before it moved to Pittsburgh. I just didn't have enough money to afford flying until 2006 when I went to Megaplex 5.

I think the quality of fursuits got so much better when builders like LatinVixen and Arend started making them.

Happy 10th anniversary

"
Back in 2003 about the only way Furries communicated on the internet was via Live Journal (which I miss being a very lively place),"

I wonder what happen too I hardly see any fury post. I would close my account if it was not so hard. Now I just auto post form my word press account

. "There weren't many fursuit makers then. Most of the fursuits were designed and built by the owners themselves."

This is become my main peeve in the fandom the diminishing self made elements in the fandom unlike Steampunk or Anime fandoms. I do nto want to see fursuitng become just a fashion statement by elite fursuit builders. .

When LJ got bought out by a Russian company in the late 2000's and then started getting Ddos attacks (from Russian hackers/activist groups) and server problems a lot of furs stopped using it. And then came Twitter..

And its sad that a lot of furs think they have to BUY a fursuit to be a furry or be accepted instead of creating their own.

I have been in the fandom for over 12 years now. I used a mailing list, a few websites and FurryMUCK.
