Annoying software!

I'm getting really fed up with pushy software and its authors. Some do at least have the courtesy to ask how/where I want it installed/configured, but asking once when I install it and having a config menu that's easy to find if I might want to change my mind later should be sufficient. Asking me every time I use it, or every time it updates, is akin to nagging. And I don't like being nagged. That 'remember me' ticky? STOP re-ticking it, and remember what I want for a change!

I don't like sneaky underhand stuff being done without asking me either. Just because I installed something to use it one time, does not mean that I want it auto-starting whenever I boot, or installing toolbars, plugins, overriding my homepage, fiddling with my settings. And you know perfectly well that if you'd bothered to ask I would have said 'NO'. It doesn't give a good impression, it just slows my system down and gets me seriously annoyed, so why do it? Yes, I might remember your name, but not in a good way I can assure you. >:(

I've successfully cleaned up most things when I've caught them, but I'm currently having trouble with IBM Lotus Symphony which has been insisting on starting every time I boot. I think I might have disabled that now (fingers crossed for next boot, and hey wasn't that uncessarily obscure to fix for no good purpose?), but there's still the issue of the soffice.bin process that never dies (so I usually kill it). If I didn't need it for course work I'd have given up and un-installed it by now.
