To be fair, about the backstory... Given that things can travel across dimentions and time, there's nothing to say that this series isn't showing the creation of the Cybermen, rather than the re-creation. There certainly does seem a lot of similarities between them.

I think you might be right. Who's to say they don't hi-jack the TARDIS and get a couple into our reality, strting it all.

Storyline-wise, they don't even need a Tardis. In Earthshock (at least), they already had developed their own time-travel technology. So we know that they develop it as some point in their past/present/future...
Bloody time travel.

Yup, ignoring their dodgy backstory, I love the look of the new Cybermen. Art-deco/fifties retro anything makes me a happy ratface. I want one!
